The EU-funded MedRESOURCE project was presented during the Kick-off Meeting of the ORIENTATE project held in Amman, Jordan on 3 February 2026.

During the first day of the meeting, Prof. William Alkhoury from the National Agricultural Research Center (NARC) partner of MedRESOURCE introduced the initiatives and highlighted how the project contributes to the circular economy by transforming wastewater sludge into biochar, supporting soil improvement and sustainable agriculture.

The event provided an excellent opportunity to create synergies between Mediterranean initiatives funded under the Interreg NEXT MED Programme.

While ORIENTATE focuses on valorizing citrus and olive agricultural waste, MedRESOURCE addresses wastewater sludge reuse, demonstrating complementary circular economy solutions for the region.
