The Barcelona Metropolitan Area (AMB) is a leading public authority in Spain, driving sustainable urban development and climate adaptation across a metropolitan region of around 3.2 million inhabitants. With extensive experience in transnational cooperation, AMB brings strong expertise in climate risk assessment, Nature-Based Solutions (NBS), and the development of tools that support resilient urban planning.

Within the NBS4MED project, AMB plays a central technical and coordination role. It leads the development of the NBS database and the common policy toolbox, providing partners with practical, evidence-based resources to support the implementation of effective adaptation measures.

AMB is also actively engaged in pilot actions, supporting the implementation of a tiny forest in Cerdanyola del Vallès and contributing to the development of an action plan in Castelldefels. In addition, it will host a study visit to Barcelona, showcasing real-world applications of sustainable urban drainage systems in April 2026.

Through its technical expertise and hands-on approach, AMB contributes significantly to advancing climate resilience and urban sustainability across the Mediterranean within the framework of the Interreg NEXT MED Programme.
