Six months after launch, CERES brought partners together in Mallorca to review progress and raise the project’s profile at S-Access 2026, an international sustainable energy forum.
Palma, Spain – April 10, 2026. The Centers of Excellence for Resilient Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Solutions (CERES) project, co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg NEXT MED Programme, marked an important milestone in Mallorca with its 2nd Consortium Meeting on April 7, 2026, followed by its participation in Side Event 1 of the 6th S-Access International Conference on Solar Technologies & Hybrid Mini Grids to improve energy access on April 8.
Hosted at the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB), the two activities enabled the partnership to take stock of the project’s first six months and present CERES to an international audience engaged in sustainable energy solutions.
Held on April 7, the 2nd Consortium Meeting brought together the six project partners: Centre for Research and Technology Hellas – CERTH (Greece), SOLARTYS (Spain), Trama TecnoAmbiental – TTA (Spain), An-Najah National University – ANNU (Palestine), The Lebanese Solar Energy Society – LSES (Lebanon), and Entrepreneurship Support Foundation – JOIN4CS (Greece), to review the start-up phase of CERES and align the next steps for implementation.
During its first six months, CERES focused on building the foundations for implementation. This initial period included the set-up of management and reporting tools, the launch of communication and dissemination actions, the first steps towards establishing the three Centres of Excellence in Greece, Lebanon and Palestine, and the preparation of pilot projects.
The meeting also allowed partners to review progress across the main work packages and coordinate the next phase of work.
On April 8, CERES participated in Side Event 1 of S-Access 2026, organised by the University of the Balearic Islands under the title “Spotlight on Campus Zero Emissions”. The session combined technical presentations and a guided visit to key energy facilities, giving CERES the opportunity to present the project in an international forum focused on practical and resilient energy solutions.
CERES also had a dedicated desk at the conference, with a roll-up banner and project information materials to support visibility and networking with participants and stakeholders. In addition, Dr. Nikolaos Margaritis, CERTH (Greece), presented CERES in the conference poster pitches, where selected projects and initiatives briefly share their work with the wider S-Access audience.
With a total budget of €2,497,800, of which €2,223,042 is co-funded by the European Union, CERES will run for 36 months and aims to enhance sustainable growth, competitiveness and job creation among Mediterranean micro, small and medium-sized enterprises.
To achieve this, the project will establish Centres of Excellence in Greece, Lebanon and Palestine to support training, entrepreneurship and collaboration around resilient and sustainable energy solutions.
