SmartGreenEcos has published its first e-Newsletter, covering the project’s first six months of implementation and highlighting the first key milestones of this Interreg NEXT MED initiative.
The newsletter presents the selection of the dairy subsector as the project’s first strategic focus area, following a comparative assessment of food industry groups across Cyprus, Greece, Tunisia and Jordan. It also explains how this decision provides a practical starting point for supporting SMEs facing challenges linked to traceability, energy use, water management, logistics and quality standards.
In addition, the newsletter outlines the main types of support that SmartGreenEcos aims to provide to agri-food SMEs through its future services, including AI-based benchmarking and optimisation, capacity building, digital procurement support, and collaborative new product development. These actions are designed to help businesses improve performance, strengthen skills, explore cooperation opportunities and respond more effectively to the green and digital transition.
The issue also looks ahead to the next phase of the project, which will focus on the selection and engagement of 100 SMEs — 25 per partner country — and the development of the SmartGreenEcos platforms and services, paving the way for their practical use by participating companies.
