On 5 and 6 May 2026, representatives of the 15 countries participating in the Interreg NEXT MED Programme will gather in Brussels, Belgium, for the 4th meeting of the Programme’s Monitoring Committee, with the participation of the European Commission as observer.
The meeting will mark an important milestone for the implementation of the Programme, notably through the approval of projects submitted under the second call for proposals dedicated to the green transition. The call attracted a record level of interest across the Mediterranean, with 841 project proposals submitted against an available budget of around €83 million.
The proposed projects address key shared challenges affecting the Mediterranean region, including climate change adaptation, energy efficiency, circular economy, water management, disaster resilience, SME decarbonisation and green innovation.
In addition, members of the Monitoring Committee will discuss the main elements for the launch of a third call for proposals, as well as open reflections on the future programming period 2028–2034.
The results of the second call for proposals will be published on the Programme website after the meeting.
