EmpoweerNEET brought together 66 stakeholders in Greece to discuss youth inclusion and support NEETs through social economy initiatives.
The EmpoweerNEET youth inclusion initiative marked an important milestone as 66 stakeholders joined the first informational session held online on 24 February 2026 in Greece. The session introduced the project and strengthened dialogue on supporting young people Not in Employment, Education, or Training (NEETs).
Organised by KMOP – Family and Childcare Centre, the event brought together representatives from youth organisations, social enterprises, local authorities, and professionals working with NEETs. As a result, it created a valuable space for exchange and collaboration across sectors.
Supporting youth inclusion through collaboration
The EmpoweerNEET youth inclusion session presented the project’s main objectives and activities. The initiative focuses on strengthening employability and social inclusion by promoting skills development in the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE).
Moreover, the project offers training programmes, mentoring opportunities, and practical experiences such as job shadowing. These actions aim to support young people in building sustainable career pathways.
Identifying challenges and solutions
During the session, participants engaged in an interactive discussion on the key barriers faced by NEETs. These include limited access to opportunities, skills gaps, and structural challenges in the labour market.
In addition, stakeholders shared practical insights and explored ways to improve cooperation at the local level. Therefore, the session helped identify concrete opportunities to strengthen the impact of future project activities.
Looking ahead
The session concluded with an open invitation for stakeholders to engage in upcoming project activities. Participants were encouraged to contribute to future training and networking initiatives.
Furthermore, the event highlighted the importance of strong partnerships in advancing inclusive and sustainable development across the Mediterranean region.
The session was facilitated by Afroditi Azari, Project Manager of EmpoweerNEET at KMOP.
