The SWAMED project, led by the University of Campania Luigi Vanvitelli, aims to optimise the use of water resources in agriculture through the use of ground-based, drone-based, and satellite-based sensors. The project’s activities include the creation of a centralised system that collects data from all sensors to monitor water quality, pipelines, and irrigation methods, to adapt them, in terms of water quantity and timing, to the needs of different crops. The system will be tested at four pilot sites: Tunisia, Turkey, Egypt, and Greece. The proposed workshop aims to involve institutions, water management entities, universities, agricultural organisations, innovative companies, and local communities, with a view to identifying critical issues, needs, and opportunities related to sustainable water management in agriculture.

The SWAMED project will be present at the Innovation Village in Naples on 28 and 29 May 2026, with a participatory workshop aimed at promoting the creation of a network of excellence, stimulating constructive debate and the sharing of knowledge among stakeholders working in the same technological and environmental field.
The Innovation Village is an exhibition and event on innovation, produced and marketed exclusively by Knowledge for Business for its 10th edition; organised in collaboration with ENEA – EEN Consorzio Bridg€conomies, the Campania Region and various other partners, including the Universities of Campania, the CNR with its departments and various institutes, high-tech districts, professional bodies and companies. The main objective is to promote the exchange of needs, ideas and knowledge and to co-design innovative and functional technological solutions through the creation of collaborative networks between research and business.
