Agri-food SMEs across the Mediterranean are facing growing pressure to reduce costs, improve efficiency, adopt greener practices and stay competitive in a changing market. SmartGreenEcos aims to respond to these needs through four practical service areas designed to support businesses in Cyprus, Greece, Tunisia and Jordan.

The first service area focuses on AI-based benchmarking and optimisation. Through these tools, SMEs will be able to better understand their current performance, monitor operations more effectively and identify practical ways to reduce waste, save energy and improve productivity.

The second area is capacity building for smart and green practices. SmartGreenEcos will help SME teams strengthen their digital readiness, improve sustainable practices and build confidence in using new tools and methods in everyday business operations.

A third area of support concerns digital procurement tools for joint purchasing. Through digital tools, businesses will be able to explore better sourcing options, consider joint purchasing opportunities and, in the longer term, connect more easily with buyers and markets through structured B2B functions.

Finally, SmartGreenEcos will support collaborative new product development. By encouraging cooperation, testing and shared learning, the project aims to help SMEs move more confidently from ideas to new or improved food products that respond to changing market demands.

Together, these four service areas show how SmartGreenEcos aims to turn green and digital transition into practical value for businesses: better performance, stronger skills, more cooperation opportunities and new paths for innovation.
