SALAM opens a new Research Scholarship in Sustainable Biodevices at Polytechnic of Bari

Polytechnic of Bari has launched a new post-graduate research scholarship under SALAM – Social, sustAinable and incLusive heAlth care systems in Med area, the Interreg NEXT MED project working to support more inclusive and resilient healthcare systems across the Mediterranean. A selection committee will award the scholarship to one candidate based on qualifications and interview.

What the research focuses on
The scholarship covers the morphological optimisation of sustainable biodevices for bone tissue engineering. More specifically, it focuses on computational approaches that can support the development of accessible and innovative healthcare solutions. The selected candidate will carry out research activities within the Department of Mechanics, Mathematics and Management (DMMM) at Polytechnic of Bari, under the supervision of Prof. Antonio Boccaccio. In addition, research activities can also be carried out remotely.

Duration and value
The scholarship lasts 12 months, with the possibility of renewal. Its total value is €24,000.
On top of that, the selected candidate can receive up to €2,500 as reimbursement for research-related travel expenses.

Applicants must submit their application exclusively via certified email (PEC) to politecnico.di.bari@legalmail.it.

The email subject line must follow this format:
“SURNAME NAME B38 NG Bando per n. 1 borsa SALAM, Prof. BOCCACCIO – Scadenza: 03.06.2026 ore 12:00”.

In particular, applicants must include a self-certification of their degree, a curriculum vitae in European format, a copy of a valid ID document, and any publications or additional qualifications.

Selection process
The selection combines two components: qualifications (40 points) and an interview (60 points).
As a result, the minimum passing score is 70 out of 100 points.
The interview will take place on Tuesday 9 June 2026 at 16:30 via Microsoft Teams.
