The “Bloom & Buzz” Planting Day, organized by Hand in Hand for Economic Empowerment and Entrepreneurship (HIH), the Jordanian partner of the PLANBEE Project, was successfully held on Sunday, 3rd May, bringing together communities, environmental advocates, and beekeeping stakeholders in a vibrant day dedicated to sustainability, biodiversity, and rural innovation.

The event attracted 73 active participants, including students from the Jordan University of Science and Technology (JUST), environmental experts, local community representatives, and beekeeping enthusiasts from across Jordan, reflecting growing national interest in the role of the Bee Economy as a catalyst for environmental stewardship and local economic development.

Implemented in collaboration with the Royal Botanical Garden and the Jordan Beekeepers Association, and supported by the Ministry of Agriculture, the activity underscored how beekeeping can go beyond honey production to become a powerful driver of sustainable development, entrepreneurship, biodiversity conservation, and stronger rural resilience.

The day began with hands-on ecosystem rehabilitation activities at the Royal Botanical Garden, where participants planted native, bee-friendly flora to help strengthen pollinator habitats and promote healthier ecosystems. This practical environmental action reinforced the importance of protecting biodiversity while creating long-term benefits for agriculture and local communities.

The journey then continued to Beisan Tourist Apiaries in Jerash, where participants gained first-hand insight into the Bee Economy Value Chain, exploring how beekeeping can evolve into a sustainable entrepreneurial opportunity linked to innovation, tourism, and community empowerment. The visit also showcased the model of entrepreneurial excellence promoted through the PLANBEE project, highlighting the potential of apiculture to create diversified and resilient rural livelihoods.

The event concluded with an informal community dialogue over a traditional local lunch, creating space for meaningful exchange and collaboration. Participants explored the inspiring success story of Beisan Tourist Apiaries and shared perspectives on how beekeeping can be further strengthened as a tool for socio-economic growth, environmental sustainability, and inclusive rural development.

Through initiatives such as “Bloom & Buzz,” PLANBEE continues to promote a stronger Bee Economy across the Mediterranean, empowering communities to unlock the environmental, social, and entrepreneurial potential of sustainable beekeeping.
