Palestine. PWEG is looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, and skilled engineer to support the implementation of Work Package 4 (Capacity Building on the Use of WW Sludges and Exploitation of Derived Products) under the MedRESOURCE project, financed by the Interreg NEXT MED Programme.
The role includes supporting the planning, coordination, monitoring, and implementation of capacity building activities related to compost production, sludge treatment practices, stakeholder engagement, and coordination with local and international partners to promote sustainable sludge management and effective knowledge transfer.
Responsibilities
• Organize and facilitate technical training, awareness sessions, workshops and field demonstrations related to composting and sludge reuse practices.
• Support the development and preparation of technical training materials, manuals, presentations, and guidelines related to composting techniques and compost quality control, sludge compost production and treatment processes, wastewater sludge reuse in agriculture, soil improvement practices and circular economy approaches.
• Identify technical and institutional capacity gaps among farmers, project beneficiaries, local institutions, and relevant stakeholders related to composting systems, sludge reuse, and environmental sustainability practices.
• Prepare monthly and progress reports and share updates with the project management team and international partners.
• Support communication, visibility, dissemination, and awareness activities related to WP4 implementation.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
• Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Environmental Engineering, Water and Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Waste Management, Environmental Science, Agricultural Engineering, or related fields.
• Minimum 10 years of professional experience in wastewater, environmental, solid waste, sanitation, composting, and water management projects.
• Demonstrated experience in composting systems, organic waste treatment, sludge compost production, or agricultural reuse projects.
• Strong experience in capacity building, technical training, institutional strengthening, and technical assistance programmes.
• Strong monitoring, documentation, and reporting skills, with very good command of data collection and reporting tools such as Excel, attendance sheets, and other digital platforms.
• Experience coordinating with municipalities, local authorities, wastewater treatment plants, universities, farmers, and agricultural institutions.
• Experience working with international donors, EU-funded projects, or development agencies.
• Proven ability to prepare technical reports, presentations, and project documentation.
• Excellent command of English and Arabic, both verbal and written.
• Strong communication, organizational, analytical, and coordination skills.
• Knowledge of compost quality standards, environmental assessment tools.
