Held under the patronage of the Campania Welfare Foundation, the event that took place in Naples in Italy on 25th May 2026, marked the first public opportunity to present and discuss the project with stakeholders and partners.

MERAVIGLIA brings together eight partner organisations from six Mediterranean countries – Italy, France, Tunisia, Lebanon, Jordan and Türkiye – with the shared objective of promoting sustainable development, social innovation and youth employability through training opportunities and eco-entrepreneurship.

Over the next 36 months, MERAVIGLIA will implement a range of activities aimed at supporting sustainable entrepreneurship, strengthening international cooperation and building territorial networks capable of fostering social inclusion, innovation and youth employment across local communities and inland areas of the Mediterranean region.

During the event, participants were introduced to the project’s roadmap, which will engage hundreds of young people in training activities, mentoring programmes, international networking opportunities and the testing of eco-entrepreneurship models.

A key element of the project is the establishment of Third Places for Environmental Skills: physical and virtual spaces dedicated to learning, social innovation and territorial cooperation. These hubs are designed to support young people, civil society organisations, businesses and local communities in creating new sustainable opportunities and developing innovative responses to local challenges.

Education and capacity building constitute one of the strategic pillars of MERAVIGLIA. Through the Third Places, the project aims to create local learning communities that connect young eco-entrepreneurs, civil society actors, public institutions, mentors and international experts. By fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange, these spaces will contribute to the creation of sustainable enterprises and encourage active citizenship throughout the Mediterranean region.

MERAVIGLIA is a strategic initiative that reinforces Amesci Foundation’s commitment to empowering younger generations through sustainability, social innovation and Euro-Mediterranean cooperation,” said Guido Spaccaforno, Vice-President of Amesci Foundation and MERAVIGLIA Project Manager.

“We believe that investing in young people means providing them with practical tools to understand ongoing environmental and economic transitions and transform them into opportunities for development and participation. In this context, education and training play a crucial role, not only in developing green and entrepreneurial skills, but also in fostering awareness, empowerment and the capacity to shape the future of local communities.”

This vision was echoed by Paolo Vassallo, President of Autism Aid ETS, one of the organisations that, together with Terra Felix Social Cooperative, will host the Third Places established by Amesci in the Campania Region over the next three years.

“Creating wonder means building authentic connections between people, places and opportunities. The National Information Day launching the MERAVIGLIA project is an invitation to imagine more participatory, inclusive and sustainable communities, where social innovation becomes a practical tool for enhancing the environment, strengthening social ties and creating new opportunities for collective growth. Wonder emerges from the ability to transform shared ideas into experiences capable of generating tangible impact.”

A similar perspective was shared by Francesco Pascale of Terra Felix Social Cooperative :

“Terra Felix’s mission is to inspire people, communities and territories to generate well-being for a sustainable future. Through MERAVIGLIA, we will engage young people from local communities in an inspiring empowerment journey that will generate benefits for the entire territory.”
