On World Environment Day 2026, MEDWISE highlights the importance of climate action, circular economy and sustainable waste management in the Mediterranean.
On 5 June, MEDWISE joins the global celebration of World Environment Day 2026, one of the world’s largest international days for the environment. This year’s campaign focuses on climate change and calls on governments, cities, businesses and citizens to act #NowForClimate.
The 2026 theme, “Inspired by Nature. For Climate. For Our Future,” reminds us that nature-based thinking, resource efficiency and ecosystem protection are essential to building more resilient societies.
In this spirit, MEDWISE contributes to environmental action in the Mediterranean by promoting innovative and sustainable solutions for waste prevention and management, including decentralised composting, industrial symbiosis, and an AI-supported mobile app designed to support food waste prevention, citizens’ engagement and awareness.
World Environment Day is a reminder that every action counts: reducing waste, improving resource use and supporting circular solutions are concrete steps towards a more sustainable future for our communities and ecosystems.
