The SPEEDUP project team officially participated in the 4th edition of IFSA Africa 2026 International Food Show – The International Food Show for Africa, held at the Kram Exhibition Center in Tunis.
This event, a key showcase for the agri-food industry across Africa and the Mediterranean, provided the SPEEDUP project with an ideal platform to strengthen its presence on the ground and establish concrete connections with Tunisia’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.
SPEEDUP’s participation in this event is part of a consistent and deliberate strategy: to engage with local stakeholders, identify emerging talent, and raise awareness among Tunisian entrepreneurs about the opportunities offered by the program.
The Interreg NEXT MED program aims to strengthen economic, social, and territorial cohesion between the regions of the European Union and their Mediterranean neighbors. SPEEDUP benefits from substantial European co-financing, which enables it to implement concrete actions simultaneously in several countries—Tunisia, Italy, Spain, Greece, Lebanon, and Jordan— a 36-month implementation period (2025–2028).
SPEEDUP structures its activities into several phases: needs assessment, training and support for entrepreneurs, networking among stakeholders, and dissemination of results. Each milestone of the project is designed to create lasting impacts well beyond the funding period.
This promising new project, funded under the Interreg NEXT MED international financial cooperation program with a total budget of €2,808,980.00, supports innovative startups and SMEs in Tunisia and partner Mediterranean countries in becoming more competitive, accessing financing, and expanding internationally. Its main objective is the establishment of a regional hub in Tunis to accelerate the sustainable and competitive growth of SMEs and startups, thereby acting as a catalyst and cluster, bringing together all relevant stakeholders in fields related to entrepreneurship.
At the national level, SPEEDUP pursues specific objectives centered on developing Tunisia’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and building the capacity of local startup founders.
Over a 36-month period, the SPEEDUP project will provide the mentoring, motivation, and organizational support needed to help entrepreneurs create their own sustainable and competitive businesses.
It should be noted that, in addition to Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tunis —which is Partner No. 6 and represents Tunisia in the Mediterranean region—the network also includes Patras Science Park in Greece (Lead Partner), Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Services and Navigation of Seville in Spain, Al-Balqa Applied University in Jordan, Arab Academy for Science, Technology & Maritime Transport in Egypt, INJAZ Lebanon and the Center for Competence Development Cyprus.
Through its acceleration programs, SPEEDUP will integrate sustainability issues into SMEs from the very beginning. The content of the acceleration programs will focus on the green economy, the circular economy, competitiveness as a core component of any acceleration program, ESG principles, and equality and inclusivity.
