Three levels offered: beginner, advanced and entrepreneurial
The PLANBEE project has launched a comprehensive programme of specialised beekeeping training activities in Egypt, reinforcing its commitment to strengthening the Bee Economy and supporting sustainable rural development across the Mediterranean.
Implemented by the Confederation of Egyptian European Business Associations (CEEBA), the Egyptian activities form part of PLANBEE’s wider capacity-building programme, which equips both new and experienced beekeepers with the technical knowledge, practical skills and entrepreneurial competences needed to succeed in a rapidly evolving sector.
As part of the project’s activities in Egypt, three complementary training programmes are being delivered:
Advanced Sustainable Beekeeping Training
Taking place on 25–26 July 2026 in Alexandria, this specialised programme targets active beekeepers seeking to strengthen their technical and managerial expertise. The curriculum focuses on sustainable and organic beekeeping practices, environmentally responsible hive management, and current legislative developments affecting the sector.
Beginner Beekeeping Training
Scheduled for 29–30 August 2026 in Alexandria, this programme introduces participants with no previous experience to the fundamentals of modern beekeeping. Through an innovative combination of practical instruction, simulation exercises and digital mixed-reality learning tools, participants gain a solid foundation in bee biology, hive management, sustainable practices and the environmental importance of pollinators.
Entrepreneurial Skills Training for Bee Enterprises
A third training programme, scheduled for later in the year, will focus on entrepreneurship and business development. Participants will develop skills in strategic planning, innovation, marketing, branding, decision-making, risk management and identifying new market opportunities, enabling bee-related enterprises to enhance their competitiveness and long-term sustainability.
Together, these training programmes provide participants with practical, market-oriented knowledge delivered by experienced trainers while creating opportunities to exchange experiences, build professional networks and explore new business prospects emerging from the Bee Economy.
Participants who successfully complete at least 75% of either the Beginners or the Advanced Beekeeping Training, as well as at least 75% of the Entrepreneurial Skills Training, will be encouraged to apply for the project’s competitive Tailored Services Voucher Scheme, expected to be launched later in 2026. Through this scheme, selected bee entrepreneurs will receive personalised business support services valued at up to €5,000, helping them strengthen and grow their businesses. It is clarified that participation in the training programs does not automatically ensure selection in the Scheme, as the beneficiaries will be selected through an open call, in accordance with the eligibility criteria and the evaluation process provided for in the relevant announcement.
Beyond training, PLANBEE is introducing a broad portfolio of complementary initiatives across its partner regions, including honey branding and differentiation activities, culinary workshops promoting local honey, smart beehive pilot demonstrations, apitourism development, recognition programmes for women bee entrepreneurs and regional cooperation networks that strengthen local value chains.
By combining technical excellence with entrepreneurship, innovation and sustainability, the activities implemented in Egypt contribute directly to PLANBEE’s overall vision of creating a more resilient, competitive and environmentally responsible Bee Economy that benefits rural communities throughout the Mediterranean.
