On 1 July 2026, the MEDWISE project partnership participated in the Launch Event for the Interreg NEXT MED Call for Capitalisation Projects on Sustainable Tourism, held at the Palazzo della Regione Siciliana in Catania.

The event provided an important opportunity to gain insights into the third and final call of the Interreg NEXT MED 2021–2027 Programme, dedicated to capitalisation projects in the field of sustainable tourism. With a budget of €8.2 million, the call is implemented within the Mediterranean Multi-Programme Mechanism (MMM), an initiative involving ten Interreg programmes and aimed at promoting the reuse, adaptation, transfer and valorisation of project results already developed across the Mediterranean area.

During the day, participants attended sessions presenting the main features of the call, including the Terms of Reference, the capitalisation approach, the Database of Outputs, and the technical and financial aspects related to proposal preparation. The programme also included examples of successful experiences from other Interreg programmes, networking and partner search activities through the MedConnect platform, and an interactive session offering practical guidance on the design of capitalisation proposals.

The MEDWISE partnership was represented by University of Catania and ENEA, which took part in the exchange of experiences and networking activities. Participation in the event offered a valuable opportunity to explore future cooperation pathways within the Interreg NEXT MED Programme and to reflect on how existing project results can be transferred and scaled up to generate wider impact across the Mediterranean.
