The meeting marked the beginning of a collective roadmap to engage local networks and communities in activities that promote youth participation, creativity, and civic engagement across the Mediterranean.
On 11 June 2026, Les Têtes de l’Art, Lead Partner of the European-funded MED-YCI project, brought together seven focal points of Citizen Campus members at Comptoir de la Victorine in Marseille, France, to present the project’s progress and discuss future collaboration opportunities with community actors. The meeting marked the beginning of a collective roadmap to engage local networks and communities in activities that promote youth participation, creativity, and civic engagement across the Mediterranean.
MED YCI brings together organisations from France, Tunisia, Egypt, Türkiye, and Spain to strengthen youth participation by using creative approaches, artistic methods, and civic engagement tools. Through training activities, participatory initiatives, and local actions, MED YCI aims to support young people in becoming active contributors to their communities.
The meeting was organised by Les Têtes de l’Art, a Marseille-based organisation specialised in artistic and cultural mediation, participatory approaches, and collective creativity. As the Lead Partner of MED YCI, Les Têtes de l’Art coordinates project implementation and works with partners across the Mediterranean to develop creative tools for community engagement.
The event gathered seven members of Citizens Campus, a local initiative bringing together organisations and actors involved in community projects, citizen participation, and local development in Marseille. Through its network, Citizens Campus connects local initiatives and creates spaces for exchange between organisations working with communities.
Members of Citizens Campus highlighted the strong alignment between MED YCI’s vision and their own work on community engagement and youth empowerment. They emphasized their enthusiasm for contributing to the project’s development and creating opportunities for their communities to participate in its activities and exchanges.
During the meeting, Les Têtes de l’Art shared updates on the progress of MED YCI and presented the next steps of the project. More importantly, the session created a space for discussion on how local organisations could contribute to the project and how their communities could benefit from its activities.
Participants identified several areas of collaboration, including sharing information about MEDYCI opportunities through their networks, encouraging young people and community members to participate in project activities, and contributing to local events organised throughout the project.
The meeting represents an important step in establishing a local network around MED-Y-CI. By working with organisations already rooted in their communities, Les Têtes de l’Art aims to ensure that the project’s activities respond to local needs while contributing to a wider Mediterranean exchange on youth participation and creative engagement.
