The PLANBEE project continues to expand its activities in Jordan with the upcoming free Advanced Training Programme in Beekeeping and Sustainable Practices, taking place on 16th and 18th July 2026 by Hand in Hand for Economic Empowerment and Entrepreneurship.

The training forms part of PLANBEE’s wider capacity-building activities across the Mediterranean, aiming to strengthen the Bee Economy, promote sustainable rural development, and support the professional growth of existing beekeepers. Through this specialised programme, Jordanian beekeepers will enhance their technical knowledge and practical skills in sustainable and organic beekeeping, hive health, pest control, honey quality, and local bee adaptation.

Designed to deliver real and direct value to the beekeeping sector, the training focuses on:

  • Advanced Hive Health & Pest Control: The training equips beekeepers with practical skills to identify major diseases and apply integrated, low-chemical prevention methods to protect colony survival.
  • Organic Practices & Quality Production: Participants master sustainable management techniques and feeding schedules to meet strict organic standards, directly improving honey purity and market value.
  • Genetic Strength & Local Adaptation: Beekeepers learn to select and breed resilient local bee strains, ensuring stronger colonies that are naturally adapted to environmental and climate challenges.

Main Themes & Topics

To meet these objectives, the advanced training covers a range of specialized topics, which include:

  • Hive Management & Colony Care: Optimizing colony management practices, regular inspections, feeding, and production management.
  • Disease & Pest Management: Identifying major diseases and pests, prevention methods, and integrated management with reduced chemical use.
  • Organic & Sustainable Beekeeping: Applying organic production standards, enhancing honey quality, and preserving the environment.
  • Local Adaptation & Bee Genetics: Selecting suitable strains, improving colony strength, preserving local strains, and increasing their adaptability.

Training Methodology & Certificates

  • The program spans two days, 16th and 18th July 2026, totaling 16 training hours.
  • The training includes field work to practice the best methods on the ground.
  • Eligible participants will be awarded a “Certificate of Attendance,” provided they achieve an attendance rate of at least 75% of the total training hours.

Target Group

This program is specifically designed for existing beekeepers, with priority given to those owning at least 10 hives. Membership in a registered national or local beekeepers’ association serves as an additional selection criterion.
