EmpoweerNEET Employability Training officially started in Palestine on 9 July 2026 at An-Najah Innovation Park, An-Najah National University. The first training cycle brought together 50 selected young people who are Not in Employment, Education, or Training (NEETs) to begin their learning journey.
EmpoweerNEET Capacity-Building Programme Starts with Employability Skills
The programme opened with the Employability and Professional Readiness training cycle. First, participants explored key concepts related to labour market readiness and career development. Next, they strengthened their communication, teamwork, and professional planning skills through practical exercises and interactive discussions.
Moreover, trainers encouraged participants to exchange ideas and reflect on their personal strengths and career aspirations. As a result, the first training day created an engaging learning environment that promoted active participation and collaboration.
Supporting Youth through Practical Learning
The EmpoweerNEET programme combines face-to-face and online learning with mentoring and practical activities. Furthermore, it follows a learner-centred approach that helps participants build confidence while developing skills that respond to labour market needs.
The capacity-building programme consists of five interconnected learning cycles covering employability, social entrepreneurship, business planning, financial literacy, digital skills, leadership, and transition pathways. Together, these learning cycles provide participants with practical competencies that support long-term employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.
From Recruitment to Training
The first training cycle welcomed 50 participants selected from 173 applications received in Palestine. The project team applied transparent eligibility and evaluation criteria throughout the recruitment process. Consequently, the programme reached motivated young people who demonstrated a strong commitment to personal and professional development.
In addition, the training marked the beginning of a broader learning journey that will continue over the coming months through coaching, mentoring, practical assignments, and collaborative learning activities.
Looking Ahead
The launch of the capacity-building programme represents an important milestone for EmpoweerNEET in Palestine. Over the coming months, participants will continue developing their knowledge, practical skills, and entrepreneurial competences while exploring opportunities within the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE).
EmpoweerNEET brings together partners from Palestine, Spain, Greece, Lebanon, Tunisia, and France. The project is co-funded by the European Union through the Interreg NEXT MED Programme, which promotes cooperation for a smarter, greener, more inclusive, and better-governed Mediterranean region.
