Climate change, water scarcity, pollution and biodiversity loss are among the most pressing challenges facing the Mediterranean today. Young people have a key role to play in shaping a more sustainable future, and the YouthCARE4planet Online Course provides the knowledge and practical tools to turn commitment into action.

Developed within the YouthCARE4planet project, this free, self-paced online course offers an engaging learning experience for young people interested in sustainability, climate action and environmental leadership. The course is delivered in English, takes approximately 15 hours to complete (5 modules of around 3 hours each), and combines expert video lectures, interactive activities, practical resources and online assessments. Participants who successfully complete all modules and quizzes will receive a Certificate of Completion.

What will you learn?

The course is organised into five complementary modules, providing a comprehensive understanding of the environmental challenges facing the Mediterranean and the solutions needed to build a more sustainable future.

  • Module 1 – Environmental Challenges in the Mediterranean
    Explore the region’s major environmental issues, including climate change, water scarcity, pollution and biodiversity loss, and understand their impact on ecosystems and communities.
  • Module 2 – Sustainability and the SDGs
    Discover the evolution of sustainable development, the principles of sustainability and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a global roadmap for action.
  • Module 3 – The Care Approach
    Learn how the Care Approach places people, communities and nature at the centre of a fair and inclusive green transition.
  • Module 4 – Education and Youth Action
    Understand how Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) empowers young people to become active changemakers and lead impactful environmental initiatives.
  • Module 5 – Policy Frameworks
    Gain insights into the key international, European and Mediterranean policies supporting sustainability, climate action and the green transition.
