The 4th CAREMED Local Thematic Committee meeting in İzmir, Türkiye, strengthened integrated, patient-centred approaches in primary healthcare.
The 4th Local Thematic Committee (LTC) meeting of the CAREMED project, funded by the European Union under the Interreg NEXT MED Programme, took place on 29 April 2026 in Izmir, hosted by the Izmir Provincial Health Directorate, project partner.
The CAREMED Project – Community-based Approach for Resilient Mediterranean Health, is co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg NEXT MED Programme and led by the Meyer University Hospital.
The meeting brought together local stakeholders and experts to discuss key aspects related to the implementation of project activities, with a focus on strengthening patient-centred approaches in primary healthcare.
Among the main topics addressed, particular attention was given to the management of fibromyalgia. Experts presented diagnostic criteria and discussed strategies to be applied within primary healthcare services to improve patient care.
The role of Healthy Living Centers (HLCs) was also highlighted, underlining the importance of physiotherapy and psychological support services in the comprehensive management of fibromyalgia patients.
In addition, participants conducted a semester evaluation of the project’s first six months, reviewing progress achieved and defining priorities for the upcoming phase.
Through the active coordination of the Izmir Provincial Health Directorate and the involvement of relevant stakeholders, the meeting contributed to strengthening integrated and multidisciplinary support models for patients, in line with CAREMED’s objective of promoting more resilient and patient-centred healthcare systems.
