CAREMED’s first Local Thematic Committee meeting in Lebanon brought together key stakeholders to strengthen collaboration for more resilient and patient-centred healthcare.
On 22 May 2026, the first Local Thematic Committee (LTC) meeting of the CAREMED Project was held online, bringing together 22 representatives from universities, hospitals, NGOs, professional orders, healthcare institutions, and international organizations.
The meeting marked an important step in strengthening collaboration among national stakeholders involved in the implementation of CAREMED – Community-based Approach for Resilient Mediterranean Health, a project co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg NEXT MED Programme and led by Meyer University Hospital.
During the meeting, participants discussed the project’s vision of enhancing healthcare resilience and improving access to community-based services across the Mediterranean region. Special attention was given to the importance of cooperation, knowledge exchange, and stakeholder engagement in addressing shared health challenges and supporting more effective healthcare systems.
The role of the Local Thematic Committee (LTC) was also highlighted as a key mechanism for supporting project implementation, monitoring progress, providing recommendations, and fostering coordination between local and transnational levels.
Led in Lebanon by the Lebanese University, in partnership with the Ministry of Public Health and its Primary Healthcare Department, CAREMED promotes collaboration around chronic disease management, capacity building, awareness-raising activities, and the strengthening of health information systems.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to continued cooperation and dialogue. By bringing together a wide range of expertise and perspectives, CAREMED continues to foster stronger partnerships and contribute to more resilient, patient-centred healthcare systems across the Mediterranean region.
