Innovating for a Smarter MED Region: Recap of the SMARTMED Info Day in Greece
On 12 November 2025, the SMARTMED Information Day was successfully held at the JOIST Innovation Park, bringing together key stakeholders dedicated to advancing smart waste management and e-health solutions across the Mediterranean. Organised within the framework of the Interreg NEXT MED Programme, the event featured insightful presentations and discussions on the project’s objectives, as well as the innovative digital platforms currently under development to optimise waste management and enhance e-health services. Contributions from the URBACT SMALL project and the Municipality of Larissa provided valuable perspectives on real urban and operational challenges, while the active participation of business and industry representatives further enriched the dialogue. The event highlighted a shared commitment to building more sustainable, efficient, and health-oriented services for medium-sized cities across the Mediterranean region.
SMARTMED Project Information Day in Tunis – Highlights
On 23 December 2025, the SMARTMED project successfully held an Information Day in Tunis, Tunisia, bringing together key stakeholders from the fields of eHealth, Smart Energy, Sustainable Urban Management, and Waste Management. Organised by BUSINESSMED, the event provided a valuable platform for dialogue on the opportunities and challenges of Smart Cities in the Mediterranean region. Through insightful presentations and dynamic exchanges, participants explored how SMARTMED aims to support the transformation of cities into intelligent, inclusive, and human-centred urban environments through digital empowerment, transnational cooperation, and sustainable urban governance.

On 29 December 2025, the SMARTMED Information Day was successfully held at Rueeha Hall in the Municipality of DeirAlla, bringing together representatives from local authorities, project partners, community members, and key stakeholders in digital transformation and sustainable urban development. Organised under the Interreg NEXT MED Programme, the event provided an important platform to present the project’s vision and its role in supporting smarter and more sustainable medium-sized cities. Through presentations, updates on digital platforms for smart waste management and eHealth services, and interactive exchanges, participants contributed valuable insights to address real urban challenges and strengthen future implementation in DeirAlla and the wider region.
