NABLUS, Palestine – 13 April 2026 – The EmpoweerNEET project launched its activities in Palestine through an online introductory meeting held via Zoom. This meeting marked the start of national implementation and stakeholder engagement.
First, An-Najah National University, as the Lead Partner, organized the meeting. In addition, the session brought together representatives from public institutions, the private sector, civil society organizations, cooperatives, and training providers. Participants included the Nablus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Ministry of National Economy, and Nablus Municipality.
During the meeting, the project team presented the main objectives and expected results of EmpoweerNEET. The project targets young people who are not in employment, education, or training (NEETs). Moreover, it aims to improve their employability through skills development, mentoring, and practical learning opportunities. It also promotes inclusive economic development by applying the social and solidarity economy approach.
Furthermore, participants discussed ways to strengthen coordination and cooperation among stakeholders. They emphasized the importance of joint action in order to effectively reach NEET youth. As a result, they stressed the need to create meaningful opportunities that respond to real socio-economic challenges in Palestine.
Finally, the meeting marked the first step towards building a structured national network. This network will support youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, and local development in a more coordinated and sustainable way.
EmpoweerNEET is implemented in partnership with organizations from Palestine, Spain, Greece, Lebanon, Tunisia, and France. In addition, the project is co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg NEXT MED Programme, which promotes transnational cooperation and sustainable development across the Mediterranean region.
