The General Assembly of the Biodiversity and Environmental Research Center (BERC) held its annual meeting on 13 June 2026 at the Center’s headquarters, with the participation of General Assembly members, the Board of Directors, and the Executive Management.
During the meeting, the EONANOBIOPS project team, represented by the Project Coordinator, Project Manager, project researchers, the Project Financial Manager, and the Communication Manager, presented the major achievements accomplished since the launch of the project, as well as the scientific and research results generated through the implementation of its various activities.
The team also highlighted the scientific progress achieved by the project and the preliminary research findings obtained to date, particularly in relation to the study of the biological properties of plant essential oils and the evaluation of their effectiveness in controlling pests and diseases affecting tomato crops.These efforts contribute to the project’s main objective of developing and scaling up innovative nano-biopesticide solutions to address global agricultural challenges and strengthen innovation in sustainable agricultural technologies through the development and commercialization of a new generation of essential oil-based nano-biopesticides characterized by enhanced efficacy, targeted delivery mechanisms, and reduced environmental impact.
In addition, the team presented the key activities implemented during the reporting period, including scientific and technical meetings, training workshops, awareness-raising and communication events, and participation in specialized scientific conferences and forums. The presentation also highlighted ongoing efforts to disseminate project results and raise awareness of its objectives and outcomes at both the local and international levels.
The meeting featured a productive scientific discussion on the progress achieved in implementing the project’s research activities, future research and training plans, and the activities scheduled for the upcoming phase. These efforts are expected to contribute to achieving the project’s objectives, enhancing its scientific and practical impact in supporting sustainable agriculture and environmental protection, strengthening scientific cooperation, promoting knowledge exchange, and advancing the development and adoption of innovative approaches and solutions for sustainable agriculture across the Mediterranean region.
At the conclusion of the meeting, participants commended the achievements accomplished by the Center and reaffirmed their continued support for its mission and efforts in protecting the environment and biodiversity and advancing scientific research in Palestine.
