Exchange of knowledge and experiences becomes an essential tool for guiding the achievement of the project aims. For these reasons the project GREENMEDPORTS envisages the creation of network of cooperation integrated by port communities at both local and transnational level. The basic components of this network are the Local Green Port Hubs (LGPH) that will be stablished at the port communities of the six partners of the project. (Italy, Jordan, Egypt, Malta, Tunisia, and Algeria) with the main aim of becoming a local forum to expose concerns and needs as well as update good practices and experiences in terms of sustainability and energy efficiency.
The Local Green Port Hub, focused around the Port of Livorno, was created as a key component of this integrated cooperation network: a local forum designed to highlight critical issues and needs, but also to update and share best practices and experiences in sustainability and energy efficiency.
The ultimate goal remains to achieve shared standards and a transnational strategy capable of supporting the transition to a carbon-neutral maritime transport system.
The meeting was attended by many stakeholders who welcomed the initiative and expressed their willingness to contribute to the development of the LGPH.
