If you are a student in one of the universities of Andalusia (Spain) and you have a strong interest in applying your knowledge, ideas and energy to the blue economy, the Blue Innovation Challenge may be of your interest.
It will cover blue tourism, energy and water efficiency for tourism destinations, biotechnological and circular solutions for coastal zones and local blue governance model and/or tourism planning and coastal and maritime monitoring.
Up to 50 students will be selected during September 2025. They will have the opportunity to follow an online training course and mentoring services during October and November 2025 to prepare a project proposal in one of the above-mentioned topics during the Sun&Blue Summit that will take place on the 19th and 20th November 2025 in Almería, Spain.
The training will focus on the blue economy sector and how to turn an idea into a project proposal that could be presented for EU funding calls such as Interreg Programmes.
Three prizes are foreseen for the best presented projects.
1st Prize: 3.000 € + invitation to an international event of Interreg NEXT MED in 2026
2nd Prize: 2.000 €
3rd Prize: 1.000 €
The Blue Challenge is organized by the Interreg Mediterranean Multi-Programme Mechanism (MMM)*, the University of Almería and the City Council of Almería.
*The MMM is a new mechanism that gathers 8 Interreg Programme from the Mediterranean region
