Programme of Activities
Wednesday, 1 October 2025
09:00 – 12:00 | South Beach – National Camp
Students, divers, and volunteers will gather on Aqaba’s coastline to conduct a large-scale beach and dive clean-up. This collective effort will turn simple actions into a shared pledge to protect the marine environment
18:00 – 20:30 | Zaha Cultural Center -Aqaba Branch
In the evening, the focus will shift from collection to creativity. A recycling workshop will inspire new ways to reuse materials, while a mural painted by young participants will remain as a permanent testimony to Aqaba’s environmental commitment
Thursday, 2 October 2025
09:00 – 12:00 | Butter & Dough eco-bakery
The campaign will continue with students preparing “cooperation cakes” in Jordan’s first eco-labeled bakery. Carrying messages of sustainability, these cakes will later be shared with the community as a symbol of unity and cooperation
19:00 – 21:30 | Aqaba Castle Amphitheatre
The closing event at the Aqaba Castle Amphitheatre will bring together awareness, culture, and entertainment. The distribution of the cakes baked earlier in the day will highlight the values of sharing and solidarity, while cultural performances will celebrate the 35 years of Interreg cooperation
When the campaign concludes, its legacy will remain, enhanced awareness among young people, stronger partnerships between European and Jordanian institutions, and tangible reminders such as the mural that testify to the power of cooperation. Aqaba’s message to the Mediterranean is clear: by working together, we can build a future that is sustainable, inclusive, and truly blue, and the integration of EU Beach Cleanup and Interreg Cooperation Day is coherent, as both take place in the same period and involve similar community-driven activities. While EU Beach Cleanup mobilizes communities to conserve marine ecosystems, Interreg Cooperation Day celebrates cross-border cooperation through events that frequently include environmental and educational dimensions. Bringing them together in Aqaba highlights their shared commitment to sustainability.
