The city of Cagliari in Sardinia (Italy) will host the official Kick-off Meeting of the European project CReSInMed – “Competitiveness and Internationalisation of Rural Tourism SMEs in the Mediterranean”, co-funded by the European Union under the Interreg NEXT MED Program, from March 23rd to 25th, 2026.
The project involves organizations from Italy, Greece, Türkiye, Jordan, Tunisia, Spain, and Palestine in a Mediterranean cooperation network aimed at strengthening the competitiveness and internationalization of (M) SMEs tourism enterprises operating in rural areas of the Mediterranean.
CReSInMed involves 50 (M)SMEs, with a particular focus on businesses operating in rural areas, through training courses, personalized internationalization plans, transnational networking activities, the creation of tourism clusters, and the development of innovative digital tools.
The Kick-off Meeting will mark the official start of the project activities. On March 23 and 24, the partners will be involved in Steering Committee sessions dedicated to operational planning and technical-financial coordination of the project. A public presentation event will be held on the afternoon of March 24, while institutional visits to the area are scheduled for March 25.
The project aims to generate tangible benefits for local businesses and communities, strengthening the role of rural tourism as a driver of sustainable economic development.
