Under the slogan “Acting today for a sustainable impact tomorrow,” the City of Culture in Tunis hosted a major national event on 5th and 6th June 2026 to mark World Environment Day.

Organized by the Ministry of Environment and the National Environmental Protection Agency (ANPE), this gathering brought together key stakeholders from across the sector to address the ecological challenges facing the country.

On June 5, 2026, the MAENA project marked its participation at the IRESA (Institution de la Recherche et de l’Enseignement Supérieur Agricoles)-INAT (Institut National Agronomique de Tunisie). MAENA highlighted its efforts to restore the Small Water Cycle in the Mediterranean, which has been disrupted by climate change and decades of inefficient agricultural practices.

Active on the ground across several Mediterranean farms, the project drives impact by:

  • Improving water-use efficiency at the farm level.
  • Boosting agricultural productivity
  • Building the capacity of agricultural stakeholders to effectively restore the small water cycle.
  • Fostering knowledge transfer and sharing lessons learned through a dedicated Mediterranean Hub focused on water conservation.
