The Tunis International Centre for Environmental Technologies (CITET) is a non-administrative public institution operating under the supervision of Tunisia’s Ministry of Local Affairs and Environment. Its core mission is to develop, adapt, and promote green technologies that respond to national and regional environmental challenges while supporting sustainable development pathways. CITET has established itself as a key actor in transnational cooperation projects, with a strong focus on areas such as water resource management, waste treatment, sustainable construction, and eco-innovation.

Within the framework of the NBS4MED project, CITET contributes its technical expertise, experience in transnational collaboration, and leadership in green innovation. More specifically CITET will implement a pilot action in its premises, that will demonstrate sustainable, multipurpose intervention to address the increasing flood events in the area. It will establish a rainwater retention basin which will collect and store rainwater from the entire site, employing nature-based and digital solutions to improve and monitor water quality, while utilising the basin water and vermicomposting to support the green infrastructure around the basin.

Its involvement supports the promotion and implementation of Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) in Tunisia and across the Mediterranean region.
