Technological innovation and environmental stewardship are converging in the heart of Sicily for a landmark event dedicated to the future of farming. On Wednesday, April 29, starting at 9:30 AM, the Conference Room of the Order of Agronomists and Foresters of Ragusa, located in Via G. Deledda 76, will host the PROTECHMED (Promoting innovative solutions for the Technological Transition of the Mediterranean horticultural sector) Infoday. This strategic workshop, organized by SVI.MED. ETS, is a cornerstone of the European project PROTECHMED, an initiative specifically designed to guide the Mediterranean horticultural sector through its necessary technological transition.
The workshop will provide a comprehensive deep dive into the tools reshaping modern farming, covering essential topics such as cutting-edge innovations for greenhouse production, sustainable fertigation management, and the practical application of precision agriculture and digital solutions. By exploring these advanced cultivation models, the event aims to bridge the gap between high-yield production and long-term environmental sustainability.
More than just a meeting for experts and researchers, this workshop serves as the official launchpad for stakeholders to engage with the project’s findings. A central highlight of the session will be the presentation of Best Practices identified over recent months across the Mediterranean basin, with a specialized focus on Italian excellence. This collaborative effort leads toward the project’s most ambitious goal: the creation of a Catalog of Innovative and Replicable Solutions. This roadmap will serve as an essential tool for partners and local growers, fostering a shared strategic approach to modernizing Mediterranean horticulture and enhancing professional skills throughout the region.
The PROTECHMED project, powered by a robust international partnership, invites all interested parties to participate in this journey of growth. The event will be held in a hybrid format to ensure wide accessibility, allowing participants to attend in person in Ragusa or join the discussion remotely.
