The Oceanography Centre of the University of Cyprus is leading a major new research initiative that aims to transform how the Mediterranean monitors and responds to the effects of the climate crisis.

The MedJICARP project, coordinated by the University of Cyprus Oceanography Centre, successfully launched its activities during a two-day kick-off meeting hosted at The Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (HCMR) Thalassocosmos research park in Gournes, Heraklion (Crete).

MedJICARP aims to provide a platform for the exchange of scientific knowledge, best practices, and lessons learned in operational oceanography for climate change monitoring.

The event, promoted by the Interreg Euro-MED Programme and the Union for the Mediterranean, will take place online on 16 December. It will provide a platform for Mediterranean cooperation actors to exchange ideas, spotlight innovative solutions, and strengthen synergies across the region.

On 25 September 2025, we launched our journey towards smarter, greener and more inclusive Mediterranean cities at JOIST Innovation Park, Larissa. Partners from Greece, Tunisia and Jordan joined forces to shape the future of smart, sustainable and people-centered cities. Over the next three years, SMARTMED will provide digital tools, training and pilot actions to help cities transform.

On 26–27 November 2025, the 'Agence universitaire de la Francophonie' Middle East gathered all EUSEEDS partners in Beirut for the project’s official launch under the Interreg NEXT MED Programme. The hybrid meeting clarified the project’s objectives, management procedures and tools, and brought together institutions from six participating countries.
