On March 20, 2026, the STORM project was represented at “Università Svelate – Italian National University Day” through the participation of its partner, the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli”.
Held as a nationwide initiative to open universities to society, the event brought together professors, students, and local stakeholders through a series of talks, workshops, and discussions exploring the role of research in shaping sustainable development.
As part of the programme, the University of Campania team — including Antonio Rosato, Giovanni Ciampi, Rita Mercuri, Benito Andreozzi and Hilal Dever — contributed to a dedicated session titled “Seasonal Thermal Energy Storage for Energy Efficiency in the Mediterranean.”
The session highlighted ongoing research activities under the EU-funded STORM project at the RIAS_Built Environment Control Laboratory of the Department of Architecture and Industrial Design of University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli”, focusing on advancing Seasonal Thermal Energy Storage (STES) solutions in the Mediterranean region. These efforts are part of a broader approach to improve building energy efficiency and reduce reliance on conventional energy systems.
A key focus of the presentation was the development of GIS-based mapping tools that analyze climatic, geological, and energy-related factors across Mediterranean countries. By translating complex research into accessible insights, the session helped bridge the gap between technical innovation and real-world application.
The event created an opportunity to engage directly with academic communities and local actors, demonstrating how research can inform practical, sustainable energy solutions. It also reinforced the role of collaboration across institutions in advancing knowledge and supporting the transition toward more energy-efficient systems in the region.
