CAIRO -April 28, 2026
Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Gina El-Feky, Acting President of the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT), the Academy has successfully concluded its national workshop for the Youth Innovators Entrepreneurship Launchpad for Deep Tech (YIELD) project. The event was inaugurated by Dr. Amr Farouk, Vice President for Technological Development, and attended by a distinguished assembly of experts and stakeholders from Egypt’s innovation and entrepreneurship sectors.
The workshop underscores the Academy’s central role in fostering innovation and facilitating the transition of scientific research into viable industrial and commercial applications. As part of a broader initiative funded by the European Union via the Interreg NEXT MED program, the YIELD project is dedicated to enhancing the competencies of young entrepreneurs within the deep tech landscape.
In his opening address, Dr. Amr Farouk remarked that the YIELD project is a vital mechanism for supporting deep tech entrepreneurs, ensuring that scientific research yields innovative, economically sustainable outcomes. Furthermore, Dr. Amr Radwan, Director of the Research and Innovation Department, emphasized the necessity of developing integrated national methodologies to accelerate business growth. He noted that bridging the “Translation Gap” between research and application remains a priority, aligning these efforts with both national and regional strategic objectives.
A significant portion of the workshop was dedicated to the presentation of the Egyptian report on Blue, Green, and Circular Economy (BGCE) priorities. Ms. Salma Essawi, YIELD Project Manager, detailed the report’s findings, outlining the opportunities and challenges inherent in the sector and proposing a strategic roadmap for the development of innovative startups.
The proceedings featured interactive “World Café” sessions, allowing representatives to evaluate the specialized training methodologies designed for the initial cohort of 50 entrepreneurial teams. These sessions also addressed the regulatory and legislative frameworks essential for harmonizing these initiatives with the Egyptian business environment.
Through the successful execution of this workshop, the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology reaffirms its commitment to strengthening the national innovation ecosystem. By collaborating with international partners, ASRT continues to lead the way in building a robust, knowledge-based economy for Egypt’s future.
