The SMAC Project (Sustainability Model for Small and Medium Accommodation Establishments) is helping small accommodation providers across the Mediterranean region transition towards more sustainable, resilient, and competitive business models. With a total budget of €2.32 million and partners from 12 countries, the project will develop an innovative Sustainability Support Model (SSMA), an AI-powered recommendation tool (AIRET), and a network of certified sustainability mentors to support accommodation establishments in adopting greener practices.

Over the next 30 months, SMAC will work directly with 35 pilot accommodations, providing practical guidance, knowledge-sharing opportunities, and tailored sustainability solutions. By strengthening environmental performance and promoting sustainable tourism, the project contributes to the objectives of the European Green Deal, with 64% of its activities directly aligned with EU sustainability priorities.
